<div dir="ltr">MEETING TONIGHT - Tuesday, March 10th, 2026, 6:30pm EST.<br><br><a href="https://zoom.us/j/92135910114?pwd=MDJhOWxIT0swOGRLRHZwNUYvL3c1Zz09" target="_blank">https://zoom.us/j/92135910114?pwd=MDJhOWxIT0swOGRLRHZwNUYvL3c1Zz09</a><br><br>This month is the MUG Advent of Code presentation.<br><br>We've done this a couple of times in the past.<br><br>There's a programming website called <b>Advent of Code</b>: <a href="https://adventofcode.com/" target="_blank">https://adventofcode.com</a><br><br>It's an Advent calendar of 12 small programming puzzles for a variety of skill<br>sets and levels that can be solved in any programming language you like.<br><br>You can see the first puzzle at <a href="https://adventofcode.com/2025/day/1" target="_blank">https://adventofcode.com/2025/day/1</a>.<br><br>We need some volunteers to help us solve the day-1 puzzle in whatever language you'd like.<div><br>Last year we saw solutions using C++, Lua, Pandas, Racket, Rust, Perl, vim9script, Awk, SQL, Zig, Python and Swift.<br><br>Lets see if we can do it again this year.<br><br>We only need you to solve the first puzzle, parts A and B.<br><br>We should be able to get through each language in 5-15 minutes. Hopefully that'll<br>allow enough time to explain how the solution works.<br><br>We've created a GitHub repo so we can collaborate and share: <a href="https://github.com/MichiganUnixUserGroup/MUG-2026-03-10-Advent-of-Code" target="_blank">https://github.com/MichiganUnixUserGroup/MUG-2026-03-10-Advent-of-Code</a><br><br>If you'd like to volunteer, clone the repo or join us at the meeting and show us how you've solved the puzzle using your favorite language.<br><br>Also, as we've been doing the last several months, we'll be doing a short presentation on a Unix/Linux topic. This month it'll be the <b>lsof</b> command which lists open files (and sockets and other things). This will be a great opportunity to learn about lsof and if you already use it, you can share what you know about it.</div></div>
