We've got a HUGE meeting this month. Lots of stuff to do and it's all good!

*The Award:*
It's been two years since we lost our friend Craig Maloney. We miss Craig
every day. His passion and commitment towards MUG didn't go unnoticed.
We've decided to honor Craig by creating an award in his name.

Award for Excellence
In Community Contributions

The award will be given each year. This coming meeting we will present the
first one to someone who we think you will all agree is the perfect
recipient. (We're keeping it a secret until then.)

*The Election:*
Every year in April, we elect a new board of directors.

The current nominees are:

Jim McQuillan
Wolf
David Satwicz
Justin Triplett
Joe Ryan
Jim Petersen

At this point we have 6 people nominated for 6 positions. That makes it
easy. Although it's not too late to get yourself nominated. If you'd like,
just send an email to Board at Mug.org.

*The Main presentation:*
Containers have become the standard way for deploying applications on
servers, in the cloud and sometimes even on the desktop.

This month, Jim McQuillan will dive into what containers are, how they
work, how to build them and what you can do with them. We'll cover Docker,
Podman, Apple containers and how containers compare to virtual machines.

Whether you are using containers in your development environment, deploying
on servers in your data center or as a cloud service, containers save time,
handle dependencies, increase security and just make things easier and
better in so many ways.

*Short presentation:*

Normally, we also have a short presentation on some Unix/Linux topic. This
month, with the Award, Election and Container presentation, we've opted not
to have a short presentation. Don't worry, it'll be back in May. it'll be
back in May.
