[Announce] MUG Big Book Swap/Giveaway

At the MUG meeting this Tuesday, one of the things we'll be doing is having
a book swap/giveaway.

The idea for this came about because a few months ago, I moved out of my
office.  While there, I collected many computer related books.  Most of the
time, when I'd buy a book, I'd buy 2 copies.  One for the office and one
for home.

Now, since I only have the home office,  I don't need 2 copies of all these
books.

When I mentioned my abundance of books to a few other MUG members, we came
up with the idea of bringing the books to the next MUG meeting to see if
others would like to have them.

Some of the other guys also mentioned they had some books they'd like to
get rid of.

So here's some basic information about the book swap/giveaway:

- I'll be bringing at least 40-50 books
- Most of these books are on current topics including:
    o Perl
    o Python
    o Ruby
    o PHP
    o Mysql and Postgres
    o Javascript & Ajax
    o Networking & security
- I'm looking to give these books away. My goal is to go home with no books.
- I'd like other people to also bring books (not for me, but for others)

We'll determine the actual method of giving away the books during the
meeting.

So here's some questions to consider:

  1. Should this be open to anyone, or should it be restricted only to paid
members?
  2. What if we say paid members get first dibbs?
  3. What should we do at the end of the night if there are books that
nobody wants?


So, if you have some books that you want to get rid of, bring them to the
meeting.
If you are looking to expand your library, show up at the meeting.

Oh yeah,  we're also having an awesome presentation on Ubuntu 12.10 and
StackExchange.
